Currently reading ... Lessons in Letting Go by Corinne Grant
Publication date October 2010
Synopsis: It took a year to drag myself out of the mess. A year in which I lost my dearest friend and then promptly lost my way. A year in which I ran away overseas, came back and then ran away again. A year in which I learnt to let go, learnt to forgive and learnt to grow up. It was a big year. It was a lot of work. And I head-butted two people. Accidentally.

Just finished listening to ... Marked (A House of Night Novel) by PC and Kristin Cast
Synopsis: The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampires have always existed. In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire ... that is, if she makes it through the Change. Not all of those who are chosen do. It’s tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampire Goddess, Nyx. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny ... with a little help from her new vampire friends.

About the Authors: PC Cast was born in the Midwest, and grew up being shuttled back-and-forth between Illinois and Oklahoma, which is where she fell in love with Quarter Horses and mythology (at about the same time). After high school she joined the United States Air Force and began public speaking and writing. After her tour in the USAF, she taught high school for 15 years before retiring to write full time. Cast is a New York Times Best-Selling author. Cast lives in Oklahoma with her fabulous daughter, her spoiled cat, and her adorable Scotties!

Kristin Cast is a NY Times and USA Today bestselling author who teams with her mother to write the House of Night YA series. She has stand alone stories in several anthologies, as well as editorial credits. Currently Kristin attends college in Oklahoma where she is focusing on attaining her dream of opening a no kill dog rescue shelter in midtown Tulsa.

Jacqui's Review: Let me start by saying that this book was far too YA for me, which is not a bad thing since I am NOT a YA (well maybe not in age but I do like to think I am YA at heart). I would catagorise this book as a true YA and would have no hesitation in recommending it to 15+.  It's a fun read and reminded me of the TV series Charmed.  This series doesn't have the magic and romance that so many of us have enjoyed through the Twilight Saga and books like Beautiful Creatures and Shiver but I can see how young teens could find it engaging. 2.5 out of 5
