ABC3 Gets Thumbs Up

In the nine weeks of broadcast since launching on 4 December 2009, Australia’s first digital free-to-air (FTA) dedicated children’s channel has been an outstanding success.

ABC3 is now the top day‐time channel among 5‐12 year olds (6am‐6pm) across all FTA and Subscription TV, leading with total TV share of 13.1% compared to:

o ABC1 10.7%
o Nine 8.3%
o Disney Channel at 6.9%
o Nickelodeon at 5.3%

ABCs weekly reach has grown since its launch to 1.4 million. It is now reaching 29% of children aged 5‐12. 
Locally produced programs have proven to be popular including Prank Patrol, CJ the DJ and Rush TV.  The top ten most viewed shows for the month of December included: Prank Patrol, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab.

March is a big month for ABC3 releases to DVD.  Titles such as How To Be Indie, Lizzie Maguire, MI High, and Grandpa in My Pocket will be available in-store with more to follow each month.
