On Jacqui's Bookshelf ...

Just finished listening to (Audio CD) ... The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
Synopsis: A tiny girl is abandoned on a ship headed for Australia in 1913. She arrives completely alone with nothing but a small suitcase containing a few clothes and a single book ... a beautiful volume of fairy tales. She is taken in by the dockmaster and his wife and raised as their own. On her 21st birthday they tell her the truth and with her sense of self shattered and little to go on, she sets out on a journey to England to try to trace her story and find her true identity.

Jacqui's Review: A lovely historical drama that flits from generation to generation including the very recent present. Lots of skeletons in the closet are revealed along the way. I have never listed to an audio CD before and this kept me entertained in the car for many hours on my long journeys back and forth to work. 3 out of 5.

Just started listening to (Audio CD) ... Bad Behaviour by Liz Byrski
Synopsis: Two women's lives have been shaped by the decisions they made back in 1968 - when they were young, idealistic and naive. In a world that was a whirl of politics and protests, consciousness raising and sexual liberation, Zoe and Julia were looking for love, truth and their own happy endings. They soon discover that life is rarely that simple.
